Abstract

Educational inequality has always been a topic attracting the most attention. Social stratification visualizes educational inequality directly. However, there is a lack of systematic reviews in the field of social stratification and school environment. The purpose of this study is to review the relevant articles of the past decade and to systematically and critically assess the topic of social stratification and school environment using a systematic review and Latent Dirichlet Allocation Model. 71 articles from 2016 to 2025 were collected and underwent quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results showed that the number of publications had increased in the last decade. The USA, China, and Australia were the three most influential countries. In addition, five research topics were identified in this study: (1) the barrier of educational field and the construction of support networks; (2) capital and school environment; (3) educational resources distribution and inequality in education; (4) the role of teachers and peers; (5) cultural capital, power, and the learning opportunity distribution in multicultural classroom. This study helps teachers to develop teaching schemes and provides new research directions for the future.
